Clean the surface by removing dirt and dust with a cloth and scrubbing brush.
Thoroughly remove mold and floating rust with sandpaper. Also remove stains by cleaning the surface
with water or wiping it with a damp cloth.
Wipe off water droplets after cleaning the surface with water. Even if the surface is damp, the product
can be applied.
The product can be applied to a previously applied coat. If there is rust on the coat, the coat should
be removed with steel wool before applying RUSTSAMURAI directly to the rust.
RUSTSAMURAI has some viscosity. Since it is water-based, however, it may spatter during
application.
Apply RUSTSAMURAI after masking the uncoated places with masking tape and a sheet. When the
product is applied to the wrong place, wipe it off immediately.
In some cases, pigments may sink to the bottom of the can. Make sure to turn the can upside down
and shake it well before opening. Additionally, hold the can firmly and stir the product well from top to
bottom with a stick or stirring machine.
While using the product, periodically stir it well to ensure that the contents remain evenly dispersed.
If air bubbles are generated after shaking the product, wait until the bubbles are gone before using it.
The amount of RUSTSAMURAI required for a project will vary depending on where it is applied.
Use the product after transferring the appropriate amount to a clean container according to
application.
Use the product as is if certain that the entire amount will be used.
*Leftover RUSTSAMURAI can be stored for about six months.
We highly recommend using only the required amount of the product, as it cannot be stored once it
has become diluted.
To obtain the proper viscosity, dilute the product with 0% to 5% of tap water.
*When the rust is tough and deep, apply the first coat by diluting RUSTSAMURAI at a ratio of 1:1 with
tap water, which enables the product to penetrate deeply into the rust.
Then apply a second coat at the regular dilution ratio (0% to 5%).
Dilution Ratio (Tap Water) | ||
---|---|---|
Regular Rust | Tough Rust | |
1st coat (1st process) |

Product : Water 100% : 100% |
2nd coat (2nd process) |

Product : Water 100% :0-5% |
3rd coat (3rd process) |

Apply the product by brush, roller, spray gun, or airless spray when using it with water-based paint.
If the coated surface is black or brownish, this indicates that RUSTSAMURAI is reacting well with the
rust.
The shade of color depends on the condition of the rust, the environment, and the type of metal.
Even when discoloration is not detected, the user can be certain that RUSTSAMURAI is working
properly.
In principle, RUSTSAMURAI should be applied twice. However, after the first coat, even
when there is discoloration, as described above, the surface can be finished in clear
silver by applying a second coat.
After applying two or three coats, it is not unusual for the reaction color to appear. In
such cases when the product continues to react with the rust, it should be applied again
after an interval of two or three days or a top coat of paint should be applied. Even if
discoloration is detected, RUSTSAMURAI will certainly be effective against rust when
two or more coats have been applied properly.
